So, we put the beams up in the kitchen over the weekend and I LOVE them!!  Still so much work to do on the ceiling but it's looking pretty good so far! I also need to figure out the color for the room (I initially had the paint store match the cabinet color thinking I would just extend the color to make it look bigger but I don't know...it looks more yellow than the cabinets. Here is a pic of the progress and a picture of the cabinet color (I took this in store).

Beams for the kitchen

We decided to put up wood beams in the kitchen and I am so excited! Hopefully, I'll have an update next week but in the meantime, here is the moodboard of what I hope they look like!

Here is where we started:

New Sofa for the Living Room!

Remember how I said I wanted a leather sofa for the living room but didn't think I'd ever get one or if I did, it would be way, way down the road because they are so expensive? Well, I stumbled upon a perfect sofa for $200 on Craigslist over the weekend!!!  It was in Savoy, IL (about 2 hours from us) so I texted with the owner and she was having a garage sale so I really prepared myself for disappointment since I thought it would sell before I could get it. Luckily, it didn't and we were able to go pick it up and the crazy thing is she ended up giving us the other sofa she had for FREE!! It was a white Crate and Barrel English roll arm sofa! Don put it in his studio and I put the leather one in the living room. It has some minor tears (looks like from trying to fit in a doorway) but hopefully, I can repair them. I am so happy to finally have the second sofa in the room. I plan to get different feet (you can't tell with my angle but the sofa sits noticeably higher than my other one). Edited to add that the two side tables are a recent GW find for $30!!!  One of them needs to be refinished (the top around the edge but the other is in perfect condition). I have lusted after this style forever and again, never thought I'd find one (much less two) in good condition. I am so excited how the room is turning out. None of my accessories are unpacked except the items on the piano so everything else you see are thrift finds (the lamp was $5 at the Rehab store).

House Progress!

We made some major progress in the house!  The living room and family room are both mostly finished!  It's not completely finished (I still have accessories and such but most are still packed).  We also started on the foyer. I painted it the same color as the family room (Whisper Softly). I plan to use the antique Persian rug that I originally planned to use in the family room (so many changes!!) Here are some pics!

I found this bar cabinet at the Habitat Store today and love it! Not sure if I want to paint it or not though....any thoughts?

Our Master Bedroom!

I wanted to share our master bedroom in our new house!  We moved in March 15th and finished the bedroom a couple days later - thankfully!! It felt so nice to have one room "done" while the rest of the house is literally a mess!  We decided to paint the wood trim (I know but it wasn't in good shape) and paint the walls SW Aloof Gray, which I first saw Emily Henderson use and fell in love!! It's also the paint color that I plan to use in our dining room (down the road...way down the road lol)

Anyway, here is the room so far. I still need to get a few things (a headboard would be nice ;) and curtains, but I am very pleased with how it turned out!!

Art can be $$$ but I've found a few good places to buy amazing and unique art at a reasonable prices. Shopgoodwill.com has a ton of good finds, for example the  pieces below.  I put design boards using the pieces to see what they would look like in a living room. First one is this Abstract Style Sunrise Oil on Canvas 48x24

I paired it with this portrait of a lady. It's small but really lovely!!

Next up, is this beautiful blue abstract female portrait painting.

Next is this nude painted canvas.

I love the colors here and felt it would look really good with blues and warm leather.

I loved the first so much I edited a picture to put it in my existing room

I also love Chairish.com for unique finds.  I needed something pretty substantial to put over the sofa in the living room and found this woven tapestry for $99! It's HUGE at 53x49
I just found this piece last week - it's hand painted Tapa tribal and bark paper with an aboriginal design and ink. made in 1980's, Australia. I bought it for $30!!
