Dining room gallery wall!

I redid the dining room because I found 4 practically brand new dining chairs from Restoration Hardware - crazy I know!! Also, I had to change out the rug bc pets grrr!! So that was the impetus to go ahead and revamp it.  I bought a rug from Rugs USA and loved the colors which inspired my whole color pallate of soft ivory with black.  I painted the credenza I found from the Salvation Army 3 years ago!! And the art I've been collecting - sourced from and just thrifting.  The portrait of the flower is from Don's dad painted in the 60s I believe.  The  larger landscape on the top row was left by the previous owners.  I found the slipcovers from surefit and they were on clearance so a great find!! The chairs were in excellent shape but just not my color (they were a goldish color). Here are some pics of the room and some pics of what it looked like before.

Ivy's bedroom reveal

Here are some pictures of Ivy's bedroom. I finished it in April 2018 and am planning to update a few things soon. I'll make another post to show some of the ideas I have.  Back to this redo - We removed the shelves over the windows, removed the carpet, removed some of the wallpaper, skim coated and painted the whole room, painted the trim and ceiling, wallpapered the closet, hung a new light fixture and the biggest improvement was painting the floors!  Here are a few pics!!

Dining room reveal!

It's been a year since I finished the dining room and I'm just now getting around to writing up a post (shameful, I know)!!  I never consider these rooms finished it's hard to know when to post.  This room is always evolving. I recently picked up 4 dining room chairs for free and I painted two of them so far and love how it looks! I am always keeping an eye out for vintage art for the gallery wall and ideally, I'd like a longer piece on that back wall.  Here is where we started and where we are now! Hope you enjoy.

Powder room progress!

We have made a little progress on the first floor powder room! I was undecided on the plan but we had some subway tile left over so we decided to use that on the bottom half of the room. I have a few inspiration photos on Pinterest that finally sealed the deal!

Here is the before pictuers (wallpaper and carpet had to go ;)

It's painted the same blue/green (Valspar Everglad Deck) as the upstairs bathroom and the fireplace. I really love that color as you can tell ha!
Here is my design board. I need to order the vanity from Home Depot and the art from Target. I have the mirror. I bought penny tile but I might stencil with the Jewel Tile stencil that I had planned to use for the kitchen.

Art in Kitchen

I have been looking for affordable, unique art for the kitchen. I am not sure if I'll do a gallery wall style or put one shelf and art above. These kitchens are my inspiration.

I've been shopping on and found and bought this piece:

I love these two also:

A mock up with them in my kitchen, along with two other pieces I already own.

Kitchen Range Hood!

So, we ended up painting the stainless steel hood black! I love how it turned out! Remember last time I talked about the kitchen I mentioned really wanting to paint it? It just looks like it was always meant to be there. I am in love!! We used this Rustoleum primer and this Rustoleum paint. I still plan to paint the door and the French doors black but we've decided to not stencil the floor. We are going to rent a floor sander and refinish the kitchen and dining room floors. I am so excited!  Don took down the wallpaper border in the dining room yesterday and I plan to put the first coat of paint on the walls sometime this week. After that, we will refinish the floor! I need to decide on lighting and soon!  Here is a pic of the kitchen range hood.

Progress in Family Room

Our family room has been liveable for awhile now. We hooked up the tv a few months back and took our furniture out of storage (I bought two Pottery Barn Seabury Sofas and a chair for $600!). It was such a good price although the fabric is faded in a few places, it is extremely comfortable and great for tv watching!  We had the wallpaper removed, skim coated the walls and installed shiplap on the fireplace. The walls are Valspar's Whisper Softly (same color as the bathroom) and the fireplace is painted Everglade Deck (same as the shiplap in the bathroom). I am not very adventurous with paint ;)  I painted the brick and the brass surround with black paint, along with the bricks on the front of the fireplace.

Here is where we started

 Painted fireplace and new lighting

and a few pictures of how it looks today (I am still planning on putting the piano next to the fireplace once we get the rest of the downstairs finished and I have not unpacked any accessories or art) so it's pretty plain
